PCC Company Daily Report: 30 April 2009
0830: The fourteen privates of PCC Company report for active duty, waiting on the orders from our fearless commander. The soldiers are ready to depart, seemingly prepared for the day ahead of them but hopelessly ignorant of the struggles that await.
0839: Commander still M.IA. Confusion abounds.
0842: PCC Company departs. Destination: NAM. (National Archaeology Museum).
0900: With NAM looming above, PCC Company receives the first piece of a cryptic message from those inside: NAM will be out of commission on 1 May 2009. They brush the implications aside and return to their schedule. The commander calls for a further investigation.
0905: Select members of the company begin to debrief the others on previous strategic research done back at the home base (a.k.a. Classics 19 projects). The company is now up to speed on lebetes gamikoi (wedding vases), archers, owls, piloi (funny hats), Dionysus columns, and gymnasia—all critical pieces of intelligence that the FSP’s survival could depend on.
1200: The company is deployed to scavenge for food around NAM.
1300: Return to NAM ready for battle. Commander splits the company into seven efficient units, each deployed to a separate wing of NAM to complete their individual missions. The task: defend the seven most crucial pieces of stone in NAM (i.e. discuss important Greek marble sculpture and persuade fictitious donors to buy the pieces).
1530: Another mission complete. PCC Company prepared to take leave for the day. Commander intercepts yet another message from NAM, and confirms NAM’s status for the following day. The company deciphers this message and concludes that the mission formerly scheduled for 1 May must be completed by 2200.
1545: PCC Company breaks back up into its efficient units to take on its most treacherous and frightening mission yet (designing a guidebook for NAM sculpture).
1600: The privates of PCC Company wander aimlessly through the bowels of NAM…morale is low.
1800: The privates are shuffled out of NAM in a daze and return to their barracks to finish their mission, with all documentation in the field complete.
2030: T-minus 1.5 hours. The company has been on duty for a full 12 hours. The troops grow weary but refuse to surrender
2200: Mission Accomplished!
