Week 10

Tuesday May 26th

Sites Visited: None (Flight to Samos and Free Day)

Where did we stay tonight?: Pythagoreio on Samos

Leaders: Alex Assaf and Jason Spellmire

Students geared up this morning in preparation for a flight to Samos from Chios.  With an 8:25am departure time, we had to eat an early breakfast to hop onto the plane at the small airport nearby our hotel.  The ride was, how do you say, turbulent at best, and involved some unexpected low-altitude maneuvering.  Kathryn, combining drama and comedy, professed her love for CJ when it seemed our plane was going to fall straight out of the sky.  32.5 minutes after takeoff our plane made a surprisingly fast landing, miraculously sparing our lives.  What a wild ride Olympic Airlines provide.  Keep in mind, TIG, baby.

Once in Samos, we celebrated a free day.  Ben, Dallis, and Katie jet skied with dolphins in the Aegean.  Alex A. and Chris Y. sat at a café and ate, then sat on a balcony listening to music watching the day pass by, then ate dinner at another café. The water was a little cold, but the beaches were still pretty spectacular. Some of us were excited to finally have kitchens in which we made large dinners.  In the evening most of us ended up on the rooftop balconies watching the sun set.
